Need help with stupid network adapter

Well yet another problem arises in my miderable life.The brand new net adapter wont turn on its indicator lights and my computer is not detecting it at all.I installed the driver CD and have a router for it to run off of but im pissed that straight out of the box the thing is unresponsive.It supposidly is hard to install on vista and I still dont know if it is fully compatable but here is what I have:
Motherboard:Gigabyte p35d3sl
Windows Vista home premium
Anything I cant do or did I get screwed with the switcharoo again!
NOTE:network discovery is off and will not let me turn it back on.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
