Need help with Samsung Yepp YP-T7Z MP3 player

I got a Samsung Yepp YP-T7Z mp3 player as a gift. I've never been able to transfer any files onto it, whether they be photo, old CD, saved music on computer hard drive. Whenever I drag and drop, or use windows media player, or use the bundled Samsung utility, I get a message that the disk (ie. the Samsung device) is "write-protected". Samsung tech support blamed my computer, but the problem persists regardless of which computer I use, and I have no problems transferring files onto other USB devices. (and now Samsung tech support is becoming somewhat rude). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
