Sarah,
Doom 3 has quite a few system requirements. I'm borrowing from one of John Robie's posts here, but there are suggestions for various cards and system requirements:

"Please note that Doom 3 does not support Microsoft(r) Windows(r)

system upgrades, or dual booting configurations.

Hi, I know next to nothing about video cards.
I'm trying to buy a good video card so that my boyfriend can have my PC and play games like Everquest II or even Doom 3 on it and have it not suck.
All I know is that I need to boost up my computer's RAM to at least 1G and have a card that is compatible with DirectX 9.
I want to buy one that is the most affordable, the minimum of what I need to have the games function well. He knows more about it than I do, but I want to do this without him knowing so it's a Christmas present.
Can anyone give me any advice?
Thanks,
Sarah
