Clarification Request
So far, sounds right.

You have one cable box to, and I'm guessing the HDMI port. The PIP would show snow as most folk don't have an antenna there.

If you want PIP from your "cable box" the cable box must provide PIP as a feature, not the TV.

the cable box remote has PIP setting should I set up the HDMI cord differently or wouldn't that make a difference

If you are getting a cable TV picture you're done.

All you need to ask is the cable co how to get PIP from said cable box. It's not done on the TV unless you want to put an antenna on the antenna port and then PIP would be cable box and antenna. I have yet to see this model offer PIP with say, 2 HDMI sources which would mean (expensive?) 2 cable decoders.

In the future don't omit details such as the cable box decoder box model so folk can write about what it may or may not do.
