I'll share that for my home server I upgraded my router so it could host a HDD. Currently I have a 500GB HDD on it and thanks to CNET's Cheapskate ( http://www.cnet.com/cheapskate/ ) I snagged a 2TB USB powered HDD to give it a boost by 4 times.
Power draw appears to be under 1 Watt most of the time so for what I wanted, a win. Cost? 99 bucks for the drive.

I want to build a home server for all the media that I've accumulated over the years. I would like to use FlexRaid over top of a Windows 7 installation for this project. I am new to the computer building community so I just had a few questions before I make my purchases. Here are the parts I have picked out:
Case: http://mypccase.com/4urasech19de.html
Motherboard/CPU Combo: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-C60M1-I-SATA3-Motherboard-Combo/dp/B007ZT1FAI
Memory: http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-PC3-12800-BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00-BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00/dp/B006WAGGUK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1427323502&sr=1-1&keywords=Crucial+Ballistix+Sport+8GB+1333
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153023
The combo I picked seems to be fairly cost effective, but if anyone has a more cost effective solution I'm open to ideas. I would like to stay under $500 though. Also, if there are any other tips or tricks before I get this project started I'd love to read them.
Thanks in advanced!
