Need help with Motorola S9 and iPod

Hello,

I just bought the Motorola S9 headset with the bluetooth adapter(D650) for the iPod. I have no problems pairing it with my cell phone, but I can't seem to get it to work with my iPod. According to the manual, I just have to attach the adapter to my iPod and press play on the Motorola S9 headset. Is there another setup I have to do or should this be automatic?
