Need help with Ipod Classic 4th gen and Vista please!

Aug 3, 2009 12:00PM PDT

I posted this in the Vista forum, but then thought maybe this should be the place for it, so sorry for posting it twice.

I have a 4th generation Ipod classic and cannot get my computer to recognize it properly. It shows up in Device Manager as Mass Storage Device, but with a yellow exclamation next to it. It does not show up in My Computer or Itunes. It is charging though. When I right click it in Device Manager and go to properties it says, "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I've reinstalled Itunes, updated drivers in Device Manager "which says "driver software is up to date".

Don't know what else to try. Any advice appreciated!!!

Check your USB sockets

Try another USB device and see if that works -- if not, you know the iPod ain't the problem.

the ipod isn't the problem because it works in the old computer. And the USB port isn't the problem because it finds my digital camera just fine.

You may have missed it.

I've seen front USB ports work with some things but not my iPod. This will cause some to miss the cause.
