If you google DV6000 you learn that this and other problems are well known. Feel free to think this is a software issue but it isn't for most of these models (including the dv9000)
If you want a quick fix, get some USB WIFI dongle and use that.
And if you want it fixed the cost is very high as they replace the motherboard.

Hi. I have 2 of the same Laptops with the same problem.. My laptops are both (HP Pavilion dv6000) I turn on my laptop, make sure the discovery button is on (which when its on its supposed to turn blue(on), but instead it stays off (orange). I go to HP wireless assistant, it wont open the programme for me to turn it on myself.. When I tried going to control panel>networkMap>diagnose and replaire.... But then it says (A cabel is not plugged into the adapter) plug a cabel into the network adapter "local area connection" Please can you help?.
