Also, in an IP based network, there is no requirement that devices be seen. So this can really upset those using Windows network GUI items that show the printer and other PCs.
So in cases where I want to say telnet to my RasberryPi I just use it's IP and I'm in.
If I want to check my current DHCP IP usage I head to my router's admin page to see that.
I’m fighting a problem where I don’t see one of my devices on one of the systems on the net. I believe the settings on all the systems are the same.
The network has 2 PC’s, 1 iMac and 2 raspberry Pi’s.
One of the PC’s runs Win10, the other is Win 8
The iMac runs Win 10
Both Pi’s run Raspbian stretch.
All but 1 Pi is connected to the home router, the other pi is down in a shed and is connected via a wireless AP. The AP is connected to the home router also wirelessly.
All the Windows systems have the following services starting automatically and a check shows they are running.
DNS Client
Function Discovery Provider
Function Discovery Resources
SSDP Discovery
UPnP Device Host
All network settings that I am aware of are set the same on all Win systems.
What else can cause the iMac Win 10 not ‘see’ the Mister?
