Hi, I got a Gateway FPD 1730 flat screen monitor from a friend of mine and I am trying to hook it up to my computer that is running Windows XP. I have hooked the monitor up and everything. I booted the computer up and I get to where it shows the Windows XP screen and then after a few seconds the screen goes blank and all I get is a message that says "Signal out of range" so then I went on the net and downloaded the latest Gateway 1730 driver for it. Downloaded and unzipped it to my computer and made sure it was there. So then I booted the computer into safe mode and it works fine. I went to the screen resolution and it is set to 600 by 800. So that's not the problem. So then went to the Device Manager to update the driver but there is no monitor in the list of things in there to choose from in order to update the driver for it. The closest thing to Monitor is Modem. If I hook up my other old monitor back up everything is fine. The computer is a Compaq by the way. I have swaped cords and everything with the other monitor, booted and rebooted. I have tried everything I can think of with no go. Does anyone know what I need to do to get this monitor to work properly with XP. Thanks for any help you can provide.
