Need help with editing a finished DVD on Sony 405???

Mar 1, 2006 12:29AM PST

Hello,
First forgive me for being so clueless on this matter. This is my first camcorder ever and am still trying to figure it out.
I recorded my son's baptism on a Sony 405 DVD camcorder.I used a Fujifilm DVD-R mini-dvd disc. After I finalized the disc in my camcorder,I popped it into my dvd player to watch it.During 2 parts of the movie, the scene freezes for a few seconds then resumes.I watched it twice and had the same results.
The camcorder came with Nero 6 software.I never downloaded it yet. From what I thought, once the dvd-r is finalized,it is done. Can I edit this part to fix it somehow???Can I do it with the Nero 6 or other software??Thanks
Robert

Try this...

I had a similar problem when I first started using my 405. It turned out the problem was with my DVD player, not the camera or the recording.

Try this... Play the DVD through your television using the camera as the play back device. If it doesn't skip in that same spot then it's your DVD player that's the problem. Try playing it in a diferent DVD player.

I bought a new bottom of the line Sony player (don't recall the model #)for $60 bucks that plays everything I throw at it with no problems. Oh, and make sure the disk is clean with no fingerprints or smudges.

Post back and let us know how you made out.

The problem of image freezing...
Apr 15, 2006 11:44AM PDT

Hy everybody,

Strangely, I encountered the problem of a freezing image (for a second or less)in the following case: I recorded videos with a Hitachi DZ-MV 580 camcorder on DVDs. All of the 10 original DVDs that I recorded work well, but I tried to make copies with a Sony DRU-810 first and now with an LG4167B DVD writer using Nero 6 and all the copies have this problem. I put this message hoping that maybe we find where the problem comes from.

Just a wild guess.

There may be dropped frames in the original recording from the camera. A player may respond to this by holding the last frame until a new one appears. Thus, the 'freezing'. I have seen this behaviour in TV recordings made via my ATI AIW 9600 card. The ATI player can display the video without a hint of a problem, but the problems are quite obvious within a video editor.

If this is the case, a video editor must be used to supply video to fill in the gap. What that video should be, and how one does this, is another discussion.

Freezing of copies only

The freezing problem appears only on the copies of the original DVDs. The copies are made with Nero 6.
The original DVDs are perfect-no freezing at all.

Thanks,
