Need Help With Camera Purchase - Please!

I really need assistance purchasing a digital camera as a gift. I am looking for a camera that will take amazing photos at concerts, it needs to be small to be able to carry into the venues, have excellent zoom and take video. Cannon is a preferred brand but I am open to any suggestions. I would like to stay around the $300/$350 price point. I would love any recommendations because I am honestly overwhelmed by this decision process, I am just not educated enough to make a well informed choice. If it helps The person is currently using the Cannon PowerShot A710 IS and has not had any major complaints - just looking to upgrade a bit.

you have options

If they like the A710 then you have a few options. If they want a compact superzoom then look at the Panasonic ZS1 or ZS3. I'd recommend those over the Canon compact superzooms.

Thanks. I'll check them out. I'm just worried about not going with another cannon b/c I know he loves to use the custom color features that some other brands don't offer. I really appreciate your help and will have to check these two options out.
