Need help with an External hard drive for MP3s

by skinsley / December 29, 2009 7:01 AM PST

I currently have a Philips HTS6500 DVD player which contains a USB port. The device plays mp3 files from a burned CD. Also if I put an 8GB Flash Drive in the USB port that contains MP3s in a folder, it will play them as well. My problem is that I created an external hard drive that contains about 45GB of music (mp3 files). When I connect the external hard drive to the USB port, it says that there is no information on the drive. Does anyone know if this is even possible, and if it is, what I am doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just thinking out loud.

Could it be the wrong file system? or..could it be that the usb port doesn't have enough power to drive the harddrive. Is this a "powered" hdd (not usb powered)?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
