Need help with a Word document

Nov 12, 2005 3:58AM PST

I have Office Pro 2000 and have created many documents that I use on my website. I've renamed a few of them to make it easier for me to spot what I want, but when I hover my mouse over them, the original document 'title' appears and it doesn't match with the actual name of the file anymore.

I can't figure out how to change the 'title' and not the file name....anybody know?

File / Properties

Toni,

There are two ways to change the title. Right click on the file and choose properties. This will allow you to edit the title. You can also open the file and then go to File/Properties to edit the title.

Two types of naming...
Nov 12, 2005 5:11AM PST

Toni,

There are two differnt types of naming in this case. The first is the file name, which is what's displayed in Explorer. The other is the title of the Word document, as part of the document's summary. To change that, right-click the file, select properties, select the summary tab, and change the document's title. While some may wish the file name to be different from the title, I do wish there was an option to 'link' the two, creating less confusion when searching for a specific document. Sad

Hope this helps,
John

Why didn't MS just name the stupid tab "Title" instead of "Summary"? I could have figured it out easier on my own then. duhhhhhhhhh
