Gaming HDTVs

In reply to: NEED HELP! wanna find a hdtv.

If you are interested in a gaming HDTV you might want to consider a Plasma 1080p HDTV instead. There's a lot of myths out there regarding burn in and the screen life of plasma HDTVs that are pretty outrageous. Most all of them can be found well under what you are looking to pay for in the size you are looking at.

There are several factors that you want to take into account before you go and choose what type of display you want. These are your viewing/playing area, the types of games you play, and how well the HDTV handles motion.

Traditionally LCD's were better for a well lit viewing room. However, newer plasmas are coming with an anti-glare coating on their displays which kind of cancels one of the main advantages of an LCD over a plasma.

You stated that you like Call of Duty, that's my particular favorite and I love it on my 56 Plasma. I've seen played on some LCDs and the picture just seems fuzzy to me. Also since it's fast paced twitch based shooter you're going to want a HDTV that can handle motion better. Your lower end LCDs just can't compete with a plasma when it comes to handling motion.

For my money on all of these things a newer model plasma is the way to go. Almost all of them come with a anti-glare coating now.

You can find some more in depth information here under the articles section.

I've got a link to a Panasonic 46" plasma with the VieraCast internet options included for around $900 that I'll post if you request it.
