Need help w/ Manual install of Windows Vista

Jun 1, 2010 4:08AM PDT

Ok, my ex-boss loaded MAC OS onto my Dell D620 because he thought he was doing me a favor. The problem is the MAC OS wasn't configured right and kept crashing. I took it off of my laptop. I want to manually install Windows Vista. I have the Dell Diagnostic CD with Windows Vista however I do not have the drivers. I went to the Dell.com support site and entered my service tag number to find the drivers. My question is, What specific drivers do I need in order to install Windows Vista onto my laptop? I have never done a manual install before.
I have used GHOST in the past with a configured build but that is not an option now. I also already blew away the MAC OS from the laptop.
I'm hoping someone can help me because I would really like to use the laptop.
Thanks

Here's what the Retail DVD does on install -> http://www.blackviper.com/Articles/OS/InstallVista/installvista1.htm

After that you'll want to head to Dell.com, put in your SERVICE TAG to get the drivers for Windows Vista and your machine.

----->>>> ONE LAST THING. Many write they can't get the wifi to work. Dell's use a software title called QUICKSET. This is NOT A DRIVER. I hope you don't have to learn this one the hard way.

Hi Bob,

I know what Dell Quickset is. I need to know which drivers specifically I need to install.
I already went to the Dell.com/support site and downloaded drivers that I thought I would need for install but it didn't work.
Should I download every single driver for the Dell D620 Latitude using my service tag to pull them up?

Sorry.

But one dell is not like the next as these can be customized.

So you have the machine, you install the drivers for the OS you choose and for the devices the machine has.

Hope that's clearer.

Thanks everyone. I gave up with installing Windows Vista. I ended up installing Windows XP 32 bit w the drivers. I have the laptop up and running now.
Thanks again for all your help!
