Need Help - virus

Nov 7, 2006 7:30AM PST

My home computer started slowing down about two weeks ago. Last week I notice that I was being redirect to different sites when doing a Google search. I also notice that I was receiving different .exe files trying to run but my Zone Alarm denied access to them I?m not sure if one of the .exe files where some how able to gain access.

I ran a virus scan with ad aware and didn?t find anything major, then I tried to run a virus scan with Spybot but the scan never completed after running for 12 hours, I tried to run a virus scan online using Trend Micro?s House Call it couldn?t complete the scan for some reason. I was able to run the Trojan Hunter but it couldn?t remove the Trojan generic file that it found. I?ve tried to systematically close down background files but no success in figuring out what?s wrong with my system.

Oh, almost forgot also I tried to run Spydoctor couldn?t even get it started. The regcleaner software that I had no longer runs.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Removing Viruses
Nov 18, 2006 5:48AM PST

Hi cmob1:
You didn't say what anti virus system you are using, if you are using Norton Anti-Virus, get rid of it and download AVG Free Edition, you can get it at www.download.com, install it and scan your Pc with it, and I garrantee it will find all the viruses that's on your system and destroy them, I was using Norton, and always had problems with it, but since I'm using AVG, I never had a problem since, and that's about 2 1/2 years.
Hope this will clear up your PC, it clears mine.
Good Luck

Hi there this is a bit a have lerned about virus

there are many variants of virus .trojans,ad-aware,malaware,and so on
you can use any antivirus it will detect some virus but not trojans
AVG is a good antivirus ,the pro version may cost $20.00 for 2 years ,very cheap.but for trojans ,this is the best I have found and I bought it for only $29.00 you can get it here. http://www.simplysup.com/ Registration of Trojan Remover costs $29.00*. This fee covers all updates and upgrades for the lifetime of the program. There are no further charges for any upgrades/updates. I do recomend it also ant-tojan shield is good but you have to pay every year

Virus Security
Nov 18, 2006 7:50AM PST

I had my AVG targeted by a virus which would not allow me to run a virus check. Further, this mysterious virus acted to block any re-download of the AVG to fix the problem.

Finally, I decided that the specific AVG directory was being targeted, and so I downloaded the software again but, this time, I specified a new directory I called AAAAA into which the anti-virus software was to be downloaded.

Bingo! The download was successful and I was able to now run the AVG from the new directory. I caught three virus bugs!

I hope this can help those with bugs that attach to directories and refuse access.

Found Trojan
Nov 20, 2006 4:25AM PST

I found the Trojan virus ruin with a software called Defenza, I could delete the virus unless I purchased the software. Can anyone tell me about a free software which they have used to remove Trojans? Also can anyone tell me how to adjust the appearance of software opened in safe mode? I went into safe mode and couldn?t open the A Squared software because of size and the way it opened. I guess I?m not computer savvy enough. Erasing my hard drive is not an option at this point. I removed the Trojan virus ZLOB would like to complete this night mare tonight. My current anti-virus system zone alarm which had worked great until recently. Also I?m 99% sure the virus is in my registry files.
