Question

need help upgrading computer..

Jan 31, 2014 1:02PM PST

Hey I built this computer quite some time ago, and haven't upgraded very much since besides the ram. Its always been good but I think I'm due for an upgrade. Trying to get by with just a video card to run games better but not sure whats really gonna work out.. been thinking of getting a geforce 660 or something around that quality. I was looking at cheap 50 dollar video cards that at least have directx 11.. dunno the best route to go.. should i just start with Mobo/cpu and work my way up? Is this thing too far outdated?

reused in a new system when/if you build a new system. A cheap, low power GPU is really a waste of $$ especailly since you have higher wattage PSU.

Thanks for the help, just wasn't sure if the hot video cards would be compatible with my system, my stuff is so old i figured the cheapest of the new would be better than what i got.

PSU

The main consideration for that type of upgrade is the PSU and it appears as though you are in really good shape, plenty of RAM too, so you might as well go pretty big on the VID card, everything else looks decent...Have fun!!!

Hi,
First of all you decide you which types of work doing right now. If you are graphics related work then you upgrade RAM, and Graphics card. If you are hard file work then you CUP upgrade. So you decide why you are upgrade PC. But right now you configuration is ok. If general upgrade then only RAM you upgrade i think.

Thanks..
