You need Dell to tell you how to set the BIOS to emulate IDE or which driver to use. Also have them supply the 10 other drivers like you read at this link -> http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7587_102-0.html?forumID=69&threadID=271360&messageID=2699006#2699006
So there it is. Let me up the ante and that is you want the Retail XP SP2 CD to do the install from. I watched someone try it with just "XP" and they kept asking me why it didn't work.
I have bought me a labtop dell xps m1730. I want to remove the windows vista ultimate and install xp instead. Breaking into xp cd-one. First, load a CD-down files, so i get a "message if you want to install windows xp now press enter. press enter and i get a new message that the installer did not find any hard drives on your computer. The hard disk that is in labtopen is on the 400 gb Raid 0 divided by two partitions. The hard disk is working as it should in vista.
Thanks for yours advance
