Need help to remove the vista and install xp instead

by hamke / July 16, 2008 10:44 PM PDT

Hi

I have bought me a labtop dell xps m1730. I want to remove the windows vista ultimate and install xp instead. Breaking into xp cd-one. First, load a CD-down files, so i get a "message if you want to install windows xp now press enter. press enter and i get a new message that the installer did not find any hard drives on your computer. The hard disk that is in labtopen is on the 400 gb Raid 0 divided by two partitions. The hard disk is working as it should in vista.

Thanks for yours advance

It's right. XP can't see SATA or RAID drives.

Well, not being a expert,I am sure there are great many people with better advice. But,If this is your only machine.I would make sure that there are,and you have downloaded to a disk, all drivers first.
When I changed out hard drives on my laptop,it wasn't no big deal, but,I didn't have the driver disk. So,it took a little time to hunt them down.
I assume you have re-formatted the drive?I ran a linux install just long enough to totally wipe the drive, and then installed xp.I am sure there are programs out there,if not at CNET,that can do that job for you.Good luck

Meet the drop-resistant Moto Z2 Force

The Moto Z2 Force is really thin, with a fast processor and great battery life. It can survive drops without shattering.
