1. Have a product people really want. (not what you want or want to sell.)
2. Make it easy. People go elsewhere when confused or frustrated.

With practically all products sold, there are at least 100,000 google hits. That's 10,000 pages. And most of the 100,000 owners want to be on page #1 or page #2 of all major search engines. That's clearly impossible.

The thing to look for is called search engine optimization or SEO. But don't believe anybody telling you he'll tremendous results if you only pay $2000.

Things that are important:
- many links at many sites pointing to your shop
- relevant information on the products you're selling
- keywords in the keyword-metatag
- well structured pages with important keywords in h1, h2, h3 tags
- see that you're being mentioned on thematic pages or local pages (like craigslist)

The best things to sell are things that people buy repeatedly. Then offer good customer service and invest in customer loyalty.
Things that practically no-one sells (like pre-war Dinky Toys cars) can be good also. That's called specialization.

To Increase Page Rank
Jul 27, 2008 9:34PM PDT

1. Create a niche page that will get attention.
2. Incorporate keywords related to the topic.
3. Build backlinks by submitting to High Page Rank directories, Forums and blog posts.
4. Make sure that the places where you submit have a "do follow" tag.
5. Register in social bookmarking and networking sites and participate in the community, and then submit your links.
