Need Help Setting up Home Theatre

Jan 5, 2011 2:04AM PST

I just purchased a Toshiba 46SL500U HD TV and Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-ray player and so I ordered a Eastlink HDTV receiver/DVR cable box. I'm finding the companies are not very helpful in getting all the components hooked up together. All these units have HDMI ports.

I have a Sony DAV-FC7 home theatre system (DVD and audio receiver) but it is not HDMI capable. It has optical and component video. How can I hook these units up to get surround sound?

Greatly appreciate your help.

Does the home theater system have any audio in ports? If so you can try to connect the other devices to it via optical or the audio portion of the component input.

Thats the problem with cheap home theatre in a box solutions is that they all connect to the dvd player that comes with it. The best way to go is get speakers that connect to a proper receiver which you can connect all your other devices to.

finding info on your model but if it is like the 55" model, then there is an optical audio output connection. Have you try that yet?
