Question

Need help, Samsung smart led tv with vertical ghost screen

Apr 24, 2017 8:43PM PDT

Hello all

A friend gave me this "new" Samsung smart led tv (Model UN32H5203AFXZA) that he got in a raffle a year ago and was never used. Once turned on the screen is showing a vertical ghost image (see pictures!). Another tech savvy friend told me that replacing the motherboard (Model BN94-07741A) will fix the issue. Does any of you have run into this before and know how to fix it? thanks in advance

Answer
It's either that or a connection.

Since you are a TV tech and know to wear non-conduction gloves when you do the next thing, power up and show that screen. Gently press on the black retainer bar on the flat cable connections. If that doesn't change the screen it's likely the board to the screen or the main board.

how can I know if it is the main board or the video board?

By swapping them out.

If you are polling in forums to get a consensus, then expect some to say one or the other. In a service center, they just go with what they think it is, then try the other. That's partly why they have it all over self repair since they can put the good board back into stock and replace the bad board.
