Question

NEED HELP RETRIEVING A DELETED FOLDER

Mar 18, 2014 5:40AM PDT

Can anyone out there tell me how to retrieve a folder I accidently deleted from my C:\ recycle bin. I consider myself to be an advanced computer user. but thIs is way beyond my scope of knowledge. So I need step by step instructions. Thanx in advance.

I am using about a 9 year, 3 month old custom-built PC w/ an AMD Athlon 64 bit CPU, 1Gb RAM and my C:\ hard drive is a Seagate 300Gb. I am running XP Pro

Any help that anyone can provide me with will be greatly appreciated. Thanx again!

SINCERELY,
MARK A. KELCHNER

Thanx for replying to my question, Dafydd

However, when I clicked on the link you provided, it took me to a page that had a "download free S/W" [paraphrased] red rectangular "box" And when I clicked on the download "box" it took me to another page that had the same download "box." when I clicked on that box, it turn my curser into, what looked like, a small magnifying glass. it did not open any window to which to download the S/W as I expected it would.

So I did a Google search for Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery S/W and found a site from which to download it. So I downloaded and tried to run it but I could not figure out how to use it.

Would you please tell me how to use the S/W? [remember, I need step-by-step instructions! ~ LOL]

Answer
STOP. TURN OFF THIS PC!!!

You NEVER use this PC to install and recover the folder. We power down and yank the HDD to add this drive to another working PC with recovery software already installed. That is, unless you are OK with losing the folder.

Thanx for your input, Bob:

Why do I not try to recover my folder on the originally PC?

I told you above that this is out of my scope of knowledge ~ LOL!

Because using this PC could cause it to be gone forever.

If you continue to use this PC, what you want back could be overwritten. But it's your folder, your choice.
