Need help: Print layout margins (Word 2003 SP3)

by scotzur / December 3, 2007 6:15 AM PST

hey guys, This is probably a total n00b question, but i can't figure out what i did. When i view in "print layout" (my preferred viewing method), the top and bottom margins are not shown. The top and bottom margins in "Page Setup" are both set to one inch, and the paper size is set to letter. although i haven't printed anything yet, I think it will print normal, but aesthetically this really bothers me. When i view in "print layout" i expect to see the document the way it will appear when I print it. What can i do to get my margins back in "print layout"?

If someone want a screen shot to understand what i am talking about I can post one on some free hosting website like photobucket or something.

Thanks in advance for the help.

That's a setting. Just switch it back to what you want. In my Word XP it's in Tools>Options>View: "show white page between pages (only in print lay-out)".

This is a recurring question on this forum. Sometimes, this setting seems to flip for unknown reasons. I've had it myself also. If you don't know what it is, it's a complete mystery. If you know, you just reset it.

Rest your mouse cursor at the top edge until it becomes two arrows pointing up and down at each other to evoke a screen tip-"Show white space" then left click. You can also "hide white space." Doing this will show/hide the top/bottom margin. However, this will only format the current page. Going to Tools>Options will set it as a default.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
