Question

Need help! Possible virus or video card?

Jan 17, 2013 11:55PM PST

I have an hp pavilion dv7. The other night the screen bugged out and got completely distorted. Pixels shooting everywhere, and colors were a little off. I force restarted, and it still booted up all distorted, but i can now only run the computer in safe mode. It still operates fine in safe mode but the video is completely messed up. Any ideas?

Thanks Bob. I already did a system restore once. But still the same safe mode, and distorted screen. If grif's link doesn't work and it is hardware related where do you suggest taking it?

Grif's link works.

I tested it. I'm guessing that you meant "if it does not fix my video issue."

Item 2 is next AFTER YOU HAVE BACKUP COPIES (more than one) of what you can't lose. If it is hardware HP has the boards and such to fix it. But they did destroy my last HP laptop in their service center so be sure to take them to small claims if they fail for you.
