The lock is a sign you need to talk to the machine's builder about drivers for the sound card or the machine.
I have such a setup, albeit a Hauppauge card and it too will lock up if I install just Windows XP. Without all the drivers from the maker's web sites updated, it will not work properly.
Bob
I want to save my camcorder recordings on DVD. I have my VCR sitting by my desktop (P4 at 2.4G, 512M ram, DVD burner running XP). I also added a video capture card (XPERT V-STREAM DVD MAKER) in a PCI slot. This card came software. So far much frustration, I have to disable sound driver from "Device Manager" to keep capture screen from locking up. In this mode I have no sound. Any way I could go on for hours on my attempts. What I would like is to find something that works. I am willing change software and/or video card. What worked for You,
Regards
