Need Help on a Redial Problem...Please

Apr 22, 2004 3:40AM PDT

I have a problem that started yesterday. When I disconnect my phone connection the connection will redial with an HP help and support icon, how can I stop the redial? The HP icon put itself on my lower tray next to the telephone icon. I can close it and it is ok till I shut down and restart the PC and the icon returns along with the redial feature. I have windows XP 2003 home edition and use Internet Explorer also regular dialup from the local phone company. I also have ZA firewall, Norton and AVG anti virus and Yahoo popup stopper.

I am 65 and kind of new to computers so hope this info
helps.
Thanks
Larry

what happens? "Starter" is yet another free startup manager that allows you to view and manage all the programs that are starting automatically whenever Windows boots. It lists all the hidden registry entries, as well as the common Startup Folder items. You can choose to safely disable selected entries, edit them or delete them altogether (if you know what you're doing). Expert users can even add their own entries.

Thanks for the reply. When I close the tray icon, the icon goes away and everything is fine till I shutdown or restart the computer again, then the icon appears on the tray next to the phone icon again.I don't know how it got there in the first place as I did not drag it there. Ijust wanted to know if this is normal or can I somehow remove it from the tray? It is on my desktop, but did not start the redial till the icon appeared on the tray.I can't have my phone tied up as it also goes to my home phone line.

I don't have XP, so I can only guess, since my Linux will
do the same if I let it. The Quick-start icon is not the problem itself. Right click it and go to properties. If
there is a check in a box for something like"redial if
connection is lost", uncheck it and reboot. chuck
