Need help in purchasing a camera

Jun 17, 2008 11:44PM PDT

I am looking to buy a new digital camera. I want one that is fast enough so I do not miss that special shot and one that has stabilization so shot is not blury. I am looking for a compact.

Also,

Image stabilization is not a miracle worker. Someone on another forum stated it very well, that image stabilization will keep the background sharp and in focus, but with a bunch of people who are blurry. Image stabilization let's you hand hold a slower shutter speed that usually cannot be done, but that means that the subjects in the frame can and usually do move during that time.
