Need help in choosing an MP3 player

Jul 5, 2005 6:14AM PDT

I need advice in choosing the right MP3 player for my needs. I will rarely listen to music, but will download podcasts regularly and listen in various locations such as car and while traveling. I also need as-good-as-I-can-get voice recording and a microphone jack for an external mic. Any recommendations?

Thanks,
SKB

stay away from mp3-players!
Jul 5, 2005 6:57PM PDT

here is why ...
the features u need, arn't the main features of a mp3-player - just some sort of gimmicks
*
the radio-recievement of an mp3-player can be ranked between very poor and below average
*
for voice recording the leading mp3-products should be
iriver 7xx/8xx series or cowon iaudio 5
*
but the cowon isn't really good at line in recording
and the irivers have some troubles with right management
- u must choose between good mp3-recording and plug & play support
*
i suggest a car-radio, a stand alone carry around radio of good quality and a tape-based recorder device
