Need help! Iexplore always running...

Jun 13, 2005 3:47AM PDT

I had some nasties a while back and ended up cleaning up most everything. IE was still garbage though with 2 C2Lop toolbars I couldn't get rid of (from Messenger Plus3- which is gone). I now use Firefox which is fine but now I noticed that when I open the task manager Iexplore is always running and I cannot end task. What the heck to do? Windows 98 updated. Thanks for any advice!

Are you sure it's not LEXPLORE?

LEXPLORE looks like lexplore and is not Internet Explorer but a virus/worm. In fact, what are you doing to combat virus, trojans, worms and spyware?

Hmm...

The l and I look the same? How can I differenciate? Should I just go ahead and head to a virus removal forum then? I thought this was Windows related vs. nasty related.

Research LEXPLORE to find out what it is.

I find HOUSECALL usually finds it and can cure it.

I was just reading up on Lexplore...

And there was some mention of messenger plus even. However when I used Start>Find I couldn't find any instance of Lexplore (with or without the capitol L). Any other suggestions? (Housecall always comes up clean, and I am also armed with Spybot S&D, AdAware SE, AntiVir PE, and SpywareBlaster.)

If clean, use MSCONFIG to tailor your startup.
