need help getting on the internet

by cktool / October 26, 2004 11:40 AM PDT

When I'm running xp on my notebook and have the network setup on it, it shows that it's connected. Then, when I try to load internet explorer it doesn't work. I tried to go to norton to try and run live updates and it told me that I needed to connect to the internet, but I can't. Everything looks good in the local area connection properties. Please help.

Please provide more info... what internet service do you have (dial-up, cable, DSL)?

In addition to answering Josh's questions, you mention that you "have the network setup on it". Is your laptop connected to another computer through a network? Is it connected to a wireless router maybe? Or a "hub"? Something else? Is the other computer conected to the internet? What type of connection?

All that information is needed.

Hope this helps and let us know more.
