Need help getting apps, can't activate my new to me iphone 4

Purchased my first Iphone for my kid for Christmas. it's a Iphone 4S. I've been an android guy both phones and tablets. I began to setup the Iphone to download apps, I put in all of my credit card info, everything. It came time to confirm the email address and nothing was sent. I used a yahoo email account which had been working but now it will not receive any emails. I can send emails and people get them but cant receive. Is there a way to remove the yahoo email I used as my username removed and start all over again ? I did reset the phone, that didn't work, I tried yahoo answers and settings, that didn't work, I've looked around Google and nothing is giving me any help. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. If I'm in the wrong forum, sorry. I am pulling my hair out ,what is left of it. Thanks, Gravy

So you aren't receiving any e-mail through Yahoo? That sounds like a Yahoo issue on that.

Neither of these solutions will work.
Your only option is to completely reset the phone and start over.
That may mean another Apple ID for your son also

An Apple ID MUST be a valid email address. It will have to receive a verification email from apple which you can open and click on the verification link to activate your apple account.

If you can send from the yahoo account, why are you not able to receive? Have you checked spam or other folders to see if emails are being filed somewhere odd?
If you can fix yahoo you can get the email or resend the email when you do.
Please keep records of the passwords, security questions, and establish another rescue email address for the apple account.

If you are new to apple, please spend time on the apple forums to learn how to use the phone, itunes and icloud.
