Need Help Finding Right Handheld

Feb 5, 2005 11:07AM PST

I've been looking at handhelds for a while and I can't seem to find exactly what i'm looking for, and the advanced search on cnet isn't precise enough. I need a handheld that has Wifi (a.k.a. IEEE 802.11b), expandable preferably by SD cards (no memory sticks, they cost a lot of $$$ for not very much memory), can play MP3's, and has a headphone jack for audio output. Those are the things I NEED, I would like a built in camera and a decent screen. If you guys know any handhelds that would work for me, please tell me, thanks.

Look at the Dell x50v or such with wifi. For the camera, get a real camera since I've yet to find a PDA/cellphone with a decent one.

I agree with previous post. Get a regular camera and don't cheap on on zoom or pixels.
My brand of preference is HP. Prices range due to need. I am at the lower end. I use SD card, but can also use Compact Flash. I use the SD because that's what my camera uses.

Best PDA choice - Tungsten E2
May 31, 2005 6:52AM PDT

If you're into Palm OS, then the new Tungsten E2 would be the best choice with optional WiFI card.

The Tungsten E2 is $250.00 with a $100 rebate from Office DEPOT (rebate expires June 4th). The WiFi card is $100 new MSRP or around $75 on the internet. $250 - $100 rebate + $75 WiFi card = $225 total for a great PDA with WiFi internet access, MP3 player, newest PalmOS 5.4 "Garnet", non-volatile memory (you won't lose anything stored in memory even if the batteries drain out before you have a chance to recharge), super-slim body with a metal stylus (as opposed to those flimsy plastic stylus), new brighter and clearer color screen, and easy-to-use and reliable Palm operating system. - Rav
