Need help finding a good SATA HDD

Jun 9, 2006 12:15AM PDT

I need a new HDD for many videos that I want to put onto it. They are miniDVDs that hold 1.4GB and the HDD needs to hold as many as 70 of those. It needs to be SATA interface, 7200RPM, internal or external, and under $200.(Please tell me how many GB drive I need. i.e.: a 500GB hard drive).

70 * 1.4GB = 98GB

You can get a 300GB internal HDD for less than USD$100.

Western Digital, Seagate, Hitachi

Whichever has the best price.

If what you need is storage...internal is a better choice.

I believe they're much less prone to failure and damage merely because they're handled less and mounted securely inside the PC.

Unless you really need 'portability'...go internal. Add an external later fot backup and portability.

Check Newegg.com for various options and read the numerous buyer reviews.
