Lately my computer has been doing something very odd that I cannot seem to diagnose. Lately when I start my computer, as Windows XP is loading the programs down in the taskbar, my display will blank out, and then come back on within a few seconds....it usually does this between 1-3 times in a row......then all will be fine for awhile.....then at random, when I'm working in Windows or even now as I am typing this while on the net, my display will blank out.....the monitor is not losing power....to me it almost seems like a software thing.
To me I started having this problem once I upgraded my motherboard to the newest BIOS version. I have a Gigabyte GA-k8n51gmf-9 board and I have BIOS version f8. I honestly cannot recall having this problem before I updated the BIOS, but I can't be 100% sure. I had been just using the on-board graphics of the motherboard, but recently installed an Asus Gefore 8400GS graphics card.....I am still having the same problem even after installing this new card.
I have thought about trying to go back to the F7 BIOS, but I am not sure how to do this.....I am nervous about having to try and reset the CMOS that I have read about.....I'm afraid I will majorly screw something up. Any other thoughts as to what could be causing my issue? Thanks.
Here are my specs:
Athlon 4000+ processor
1.5 gigs RAM
Asus 8400GS graphics card
Windows XP (all updates applied)
Gigabyte GA-k8n51gmf-9 motherboard F8 bios version
