Thanks for your question! You said that the HT gets confused when you connect the STB to it and then push the signal out from it to the TV. Have you tried disconnecting optical cable from the TV so that the setup is as follows:
STB via coaxial to HT via HDMI to TV
I recently upgraded to Samsung ES7500 and so far, I'm lovin it!
I need some help connecting it to my Satellite STB and Sony Home Theater. This is how I have connected it:
STB => TV: HDMI
SonyHT => TV: HDMI-CEC
TV => SonyHT: Toslink digital optical
This seems to work but the Samsung manual says that for any HDMI source, TV will only output 2 channels to digital audio out, not 5.1 sound. Does that mean that I will get only stereo sound for my STB HD channels? The STB does have a digital coaxial also and I tried connecting it directly to Sony HT but then my Sony HT gets confused when it sees audio in from both coaxial and optical. For example, when I change TV source to USB, Sony HT continues to play STB sound and doesn't switch to optical. Also, I noticed lip-sync issues for the optical sound but when I removed the digital coaxial from the STB, those went away.
So my question is, how should these 3 things be connected?
Thanks in advance,
