Question

Need help connecting my windows 98 wirelessly to internet

Apr 11, 2013 8:48AM PDT

I switched to Xfinity internet and now am having problems connecting my Windows 98 desktop to the internet wirelessly. I had it working yesterday with a medialink adapter but this morning I lost my internet connection and it will not recognize the adapter. So I went and bought a Netgear usb adapter and it will not recongnize it either. I also noticed in control panel the wireless connection icon that was there previously is not longer there. I don't know what the heck happened, but I need help getting this computer back on the internet. Please help me.

And what is this MediaLink thing? A web link please.

For machines that I need connections without driver hunts I use WiFi bridges.

Medialink is a usb adapter to be able to connect to the internet wirelessly. Their website is www.medialinkproducts.com. I just don't understand what happened. Why it will not recognize either of these adapters and why my wireless internet icon is gone too, is strange. I really want to get this computer back on the internet because it has my printer connected to it that we all use wirelessly in the house. By the way, this computer worked fined with AT&T internet. I had a wireless adapter that I used for years.
