If you need service in 2 or so years, I'd be concerned. But with the US DOJ, DOD and others starting to show concern about subjects I don't want to list here, the sale looks like it will not occur. We'll have to want and see.

I am in the market for a new laptop and have been researching computer technology and comparing the different notebook manufacturers for the past year while saving up (I am a college student=broke). I came under the impression that IBM makes an extremely good laptop in terms of reliabilty, quality, and technology and is a good company in terms of warranty and customer service. But recently there has been discussion in the news about IBM selling there computer production line to a chinese firm (Lenova i believe). This has created tremendous concern for me, and for some editors in several computer related magazines (PC MAG, PC World, LAPTOP). Has anyone read any more about this takeover and possible implications for IBM laptop owners? Any info would be helpful, and just your input/advice about buying laptops from IBM. Thanks.
