If so, you could hook the iPod to the AUX in on the amp and play the iPod through that.

No. They actually don't own a stereo system. That's the reason I was looking for a cheap speaker system for about $15 or so. That way the music could be heard without earphones & by everyone in the home (which is them mostly).
Be a nice son and stump up a little more than that for something that sounds decent.

You could afford a 160GB iPod Touch for yourself, be a good guy and stump up $20 bucks for the parents. You know they've spent more than that on you and it sounds as though you are living with them now.
