Need Help Choosing a Notebook

Nov 12, 2009 12:38PM PST

Hello,

I need help in identifying notebook brands and models that are offering egronomical display screens with the least eye-strain. I can't even find any study identifying the relevant features, LCD, LED, backlight, glare-free, HD, etc. (I think these are all desireable for egronomical display screens, but beyond resolution nobody actually tells you what each one of their screen categories means and what features it consists of.) I would appreciate any valid input on brands and models with the type of screen I should look for which will fit my desired criteria.
Thank you. Alexander

Buying on SPEC?

Sorry but that's a bad idea. You learn this fast by buying on spec. GO SHOPPING and take notes. Note what you like and dislike.

Start with the size screen you like and then glare, non-glare, etc.

There is no such study today.

Buying on Specs?
Nov 13, 2009 12:38AM PST

Bob,

When was the last time you looked at laptops on Best Buy, Comp USA or Staples? I was there last weekend at all 3 stores. ALL THE SCREENS ARE THE SAME, glossy high resolution. Tell me if you find any glare-free model in any store I can go and check out.

I know all the features I want on my laptop that will serve the functions I need. The only place I got stuck on is the screen, and this is a critical feature for me because of weak eyes.

I found this article on another forum which is somewhat helpful: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2549
Maybe someone can provide a helpful input from this article's perspective.

Thanks for your reply.

I went last week.

Not all the machines in Hudson, MA were glossy high resolution. This is not a concierge shopping forum (no paid help) so the best you hope for are people that get out there. The models are now changing weekly as the shuffle from old to new machines is in full force.

I know about notebookreview so its good you found that. NOW find that model in a store and go see it.

This advice is for your own good or to save you the troubles of returning the products.
