Question

Need help choosing a laptop fpr college!

Jul 25, 2015 8:52PM PDT

I'm going to my freshman year of college on August 23rd. I need a good laptop, but have no idea which one to buy,I was looking at the Lenovo Flex 3 on the Microsoft store but the one review I could find of it on YouTube said that its battery life wasn't too good, He said he got about 3 hours, but I have class from 8 am to 12, lunch break, then 1 to 3:30 classes, so I don't have much time to recharge. Need better battery life. I'm not sure what kind of processor and ram combo I need to achieve good battery life, but I really want a 2 in 1 with a backlit keyboard, HDMI pot, portablilty, good battery life, and a good amount of speed (right now I have a Toshiba satellite C55 that has 2gb of ram, and it is SO SLOW AND LAGGY at every turn.) However, I cannot pay the price of a Macbook, I can't go over 1000 (including warranty, tax, and shipping.) I don't really want to hit that 1000 because I have to pay for half of the laptop myself, I am currently working at Rue21 (lol this means I not made of money at all folks), if anyone could help me find something that would be good, I would appreciate it! Thanks to everyone who reads! (background info: I'm going to be a Music Education major, but any music software I need I'll use in the music lab, not my laptop, and I wont be gaming that much on it because I'm asking for an Xbox One for Christmas. So I need something to handle my papers, video streaming, online games, and such, possibly very light photo editing. (not PhotoShop, I use the Art Lab for that)

Answer
Under load, battery times do plummet.

But everyone in your class would suffer this fate. Try Notebookcheck's review on the specific model of the flex you had in mind. There are a dozen models so I can't do this for you.

No Flex 3 14 review

I checked the site, but there are no reviews of the Lenovo Flex 3 14 inch. I'm not dead set on the Flex, just need something at a good price with what I need.

Thanks for that review!

I couldn't find it on the site with the site search, but this review clearly distinguished the batterytimes with and normal versus stressful load (the latter of which I wont reach), he talks of a little over 7 hrs of normal use. That's perfectly fine for me! Thank you very much!!

Good to read.

I hope you understand I like to find exact models whenever possible. Glad it helped get the numbers you need to see.

CNET's reviews were kind on this model as well.

...look for a seat with a floor plug or near a plug, which you might be able to use to charge your laptop some. Some of the newer rooms may have power at the seat.
