While there is nothing wrong with changing your IP address, the purpose of circumventing a ban is an issue. Most sites and services prohibit banned users from returning, and it is not our place to help override their decisions. I consider this to fall under the forum policy concerning gaining unauthorized access to a computer network and am locking this thread. If another moderator disagrees he may unlock this thread. My suggestion would be to contact the administration overseeing that game and plead your case to have the ban lifted. Depending on the infraction they may be willing to lift it after a brief 'time out.'

I was playing an online game and got IP banned. I wanna change my ip address but I'm not quite sure what to do with the set up I have. I'm not even sure which ip is banned. My laptop is a Dell E1505. I'm using a Netgear Wireless Router WGR614 v.6 which is connected to a Toshiba cable modem. I think I know how to change the ip of a desktop if the cable modem is connected directly to a desktop nearby but with the whole wireless setup their seems to be more than one ip address. When I go to a site to view my ip address it gives me one number and then I look below at my wireless connection with the green wave tray icon and it says a completely different number which is a generic 192.168.1.x number. If I do ipconfig /release it only changes the generic number and not the unique other number that displays on those websites. Any ideas on where to begin in changing that unique laptop ip that appears on websites? I think that one is the one that's banned. Thanks for your time!
