need help a shuttle computer

I t has a a RS232 serial card built into the motherboard that is burnt out. can i remove the graphic card that's installed in the pci slot and install a rs232 card in it's placed in fm10(s5140) v1.0 motherboard

- If the motherboard has built in graphics, you can use that while using that pci slot for a serial card.
- Does this motherboard only have one pci slot? That's not much.
- If the card comes with a driver, be sure it is compatible with the OS you run. On a PC with a motherboard that has a built-in serial port, it might not be Windows 8.

I use rs232 a lot and use the USB to rs232 dongles you see at serialio.com. As the PCI rs232 would not put a serial at the old 0x3f8 or 0x2f8 you must be using some current software so why not the usual dongle?
