Need help!

Dec 9, 2004 12:50PM PST

Hello, I am trying to decide on what camera to spend my money on. At this point in time I know I like to take outdoor/vista shots as well as birthday party type of photos. A couple of years ago I bought myself a Kodak DX4900 which turned out to be (at first) great for "look at the camera" type of shots (until I started using AA batteries, from thereon a piece of junk) but takes HORRIBLE pictures outdoors. At this point in time, and since digcams are so cheap, I am willing to spend around $400.00. Also, do you think I need more zoom power?

Bye.

One of the biggest bargains around in that price range is the Sony V1.

The V3 has now hit the market at $650, and some places are discounting the V1. ($375 at newegg.com).

Others to look at:

Canon A95
Konica Minolta G600
Olympus C5000

What do you think about the Fujifilm FinePix E550?

Fuji has not caused much of a stir for a while.

The E550 seems to be changing things.

The owners of the E550 appear to like it a lot:

And one reviewer gave it a "Highly Recommended" rating:

Fujifilm may have shot themselves in the foot with the E550. It came out as a cost reduced version of the F810. They introduced both cameras at the same time. Probably to cover two price ranges. Clearly, the E550 is every bit as good as the F810.

You should add the Fujifilm E550 to your list of possibilities.
