Need help

I have an hp computer, windows me, model # 15144400000405.

My display has been to dark to do some things I do on here, so I use to click on the little computer and bring up the display properties page and then click on advance and then click on color management and there was a bar slide I use to slide up and it would lighten the desktop. But the other day I had to do a recovery and now when I go there it is all differnt, under color management it now is just has a place to add things that I know nothing about. Can anyone tell me where I can go to lighten up my desk top.

Thanks,
geneil

Most monitors controls on the front side to set position, contrast and brightness. Does yours have?

And, it might be important, how did you do the recovery?

Also tell more about "a place to add things that I know nothing about" and, if possible, tell name and model number of videocard, model number of HP (like Pavillion 500, or whatever HP calls their machines) and version number of video driver. Somebody might recognize it and be able to help you.
