Need HD Camcorder w/ext mic input that is compat. with MAC

Jul 24, 2011 5:04AM PDT

Hi Everyone,

I'm searching for a good camcorder that is mac compatible, but also need a ext. mic input. The mic is important because I would like to put a wireless mic system on the camcorder. I'll be using it for documentary work for real estate. All of the videos will be uploaded to youtube. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Mike

Define "mac compatible."

Some folk are upset over installing Flip4Mac or another tool to get at the content or having to buy an editor. I would have to guess what compatible is.

Mac Compatible Meaning

I use imovie for all my videos, which is a Macintosh Computer. Just need to make sure the camcorder will work with imovie. Not all camcorders will work with a Mac.

Thanks,

Mike

Looks too narrow minded.

I looked at that and found no Compact camera and found something close to EIGHT POUNDS in weight and maybe over 5 THOUSAND BUCKS.

Your post is a great incentive for folk to give more detail about what they are looking for in cost, weight and more.

iMovie HD really opens up the possible units.

PS. I'm seeing less firewire today.

And as you see boya's post, the details are important. It took a little to see what you meant by compatible. For example I rarely have any trouble but I can always use Handbrake and Flip4Mac when needed. For me, such things are part of the system that we use. Some folk will not accept a small step in the process or won't update to iMovie HD.

You did not tell us which Mac

so we have no way to know what is "compatible".
