Need good basic digital camera, brother suggests Leica?

by greekdancer2 / May 19, 2009 11:51 AM PDT

I am looking for a compact, digital camera to photograph primarily my children, but also good for scenery as I will be travelling to Greece soon. My brother has been happy with his Leica and even bought one for my parents. Need suggestions and comments please.

Basic Leica

Leica cameras have always been noted for high quality (and high price).

Here is a comparison chart of what I believe are the latest models:

The C-Lux 3 is the most practical for general shooting.
The D-Lux 4 has a very bright (and expensive) lens, but it is quite limited in optical zoom.
The D-Lux 4 is best suited for a professional photographer.

You might also take a look at the Canon G10.
It is the premium small Canon digital camera.

If you like Leica lens, then you may take a look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 which has a very nice and fast Leica f/2.0 lens. This camera is excellent for landscape/scenery and the fast lens also help in lower light shots. The main disadvantage is lack of zoom power. Here is a review:

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
