Need good anti-virus program for Win98SE

by Gwendolyn / February 9, 2005 1:33 AM PST

I am wondering if there is an anti-virus program, preferable free, that is compatible with Win 98SE. I had AVG for a few years, but the latest version caused major freezing problems on my computer.

I have Avast now and have some minor problems, including the computer being slower and creaky sounding but the major problem is it causes my computer to freeze many times after scanning.

I like free, of course, but would buy IF compatibility with Win98SE would not be a problem. Any ideas?

I use w98 and ca's ezav.

Costs me 10 bucks a year for updates (fits my budget).

Seems to coexist with w98 without any fuss.
They update almost daily.
Seems to work or at least it nails the eicar files that I keep on the machine.

As it has come through the revs the ca folks seem to have forgotten that some folks still run resource limited machines.

I suppose that makes sense, why design a product for a model-t when everyone drives a lexsus.

you should post this question on the 95/98 board here as that many users of 98 should have a number of working bets! Happy
