A water mark
Apr 10, 2006 7:20AM PDT

A water mark on them may mean that these movies are copyrighted.

Forum Policies states

Copyrighted or Trademarked Materials
It is illegal to post any content that is copyrighted or trademarked, unless you hold the copyright or trademark. Any material protected by copyright may not be posted in the message boards without the expressed permission of the author or owner of the copyright on that material. So you will NOT get any help here.

Share a clip of this watermark.

Either by a link, or at youtube.com or other. No one knows what it is we are dealing with yet.

If it's copyrighted works, you just need to read the other reply.

Convert from what?
Apr 10, 2006 12:48PM PDT

I'm assuming you mean that all of the converter software you've found places a watermark on the output as part of the trial, not that the movies you have contain watermarks. Correct? If that's the case, no problem. Just share what format the videos are currently in and I'm sure one of us will be able to point you to a free converter that does not use watermarks to get you to purchase a full version. Your operating system would also be helpful, as some are limited in that respect.

WMV to MPEG or any other viewable by dvd
May 31, 2006 12:05PM PDT

Hello,
I would like to find a free converter for my WMV files so that I can burn them on to a dvd and it can be viewed by a dvd player. I have spent so much money on computer and video equipment to tape my daughter's pitching and load it to the pc to try and send to the college coach that I just don't have anymore to spend.
I really need to do this as she has a scholarship in jeapordy if they do not get it soon.
I have tried to download a couple of trial converters but they have a watermark and I just can't afford to spend the $30 for the cheapest one (maybe just to find out it didn't work either).
Can anyone help me?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions that you have.
Best regards

Try...

1. VLCPLAYER

It can "transcode" from many formats to other formats.

2. About making that DVD. You didn't share what you have already. But DVDSANTA has a nice demo and is less than 30 bucks.

If this is not worth 30 bucks maybe it's not worth doing?

Re: need free movie converter

Maybe it's better to rephrase the question. You NEED a movie converter and you WANT a free one. So if that's not available, you might NEED to buy one.

Sorry, I can't offer any more help. No experience at all with movie converters.

Thank you Kees

You are right. I should have reworded that. I didn't mean that the programs/software are not worth $30, but ANOTHER $30 to find out that it STILL does NOT WORK is stupid for ANYONE to do without asking a few questions and researching it a little more.

I have Nero for a burner and thank you for your other suggestions.

free dvd burner

You can get a free dvd burner here. It renders slowly, but steadily and burns a dvd compatible with free standing dvd players. They offer a ''pro'' version for purchase, but the free version is functional;
