Jun 4, 2013 2:55AM PDT

I need a desktop that will hold 3 large hard drives, and, if possible, has esata, analog tv ports, USB 3.0.

Thanks

Answer
Didn't find such a thing.

Today it's rare and apparently non-existent to find analog TV signals on PCs. Why not HDMI? Or why not add this later?

Or is this a custom job today?

Anything with 3 hard drives, esata?

Thanks

About eSATA.

Many have blown up at HDD eSATA makers over the power issue. So with that out of the way, there are too many desktops that hold or have 3 or more bays with rear panels you can add the port you want.

But given how many were so upset with eSATA I wonder if you know the issue with that.

Hard drives, esata
Jun 5, 2013 6:05PM PDT

Thanks. I have several external hard drives with esata/usb 2.0, and esata is much faster. Regarding the 3 hard drives, is it easier to install these hard drives on certain brands/models of desktops? I have never installed a desktop hard drive. I want to have 3 GB or 4 GB drives, in JBOD configuration. No RAID.

Back to none.

I have yet to see a common desktop (Dell, etc.) that arrived ready for the new owner to pop drives in and use JBOD.

It appears you want a custom job. That is, almost any desktop can have many drive bays. Adding drives is pretty easy. It's that configuration and setup after we connect the cables that drives folk mad.

From your posts I'm going with -> You need a computer coach. There are such folk that specialize in helping those that don't want to craft a custom system or deal with the setup issues.

With just large drives, why JBOD?

JBOD, hard drives
Jun 6, 2013 4:59PM PDT

Thanks. JBOD gives the most hard drive space, is more simple, and you can swap hard drives(not C drives). Not true for a RAID system. I will do backups on externals. Also, I meant to say 3TB or 4TB hard drives.

Then you are back to none that meet your requirements.

Remember I'm taking your requirements and words seriously. Not one machine I looked at does JBOD out of the box supporting the end user's ability to drop drives in and the maker supporting this from day one.

There are plenty of desktops that you can get, add a JBOD and/or eSATA card and get the features you wanted but that misses your spec.
